Diocese to send 10 to College for Congregational Development
Ten people from the Diocese of Spokane will participate in the Diocese of Olympia’s College for Congregational Development from June 7-14 at the Dumas Bay Center in Federal Way. Participants will learn the theory and practice of ‘planned intervention’ in the life of a congregation — helping communities to reflect intentionally on their life together and to develop strategic, proactive responses to help strengthen congregations’ life and ministry. They will join with about 50 others to learn, pray, share stories, and develop skills for guiding congregations through transition.
The goal in our diocese is to have teams working both in their own congregations and in their regions to strengthen our collective ability to be the church God calls us to be — and to discover strengths to build on and weaknesses to be addressed proactively and creatively. These teams will work in concert with the Rev. Paul J. Lebens-Englund, Canon for Congregational Development.
This is a two-year program with high demands of time and energy from each participant. Please give thanks for each participant’s commitment of time and talent and keep them in your prayers for safe travel and for fruitful learning. They include: Spokane/Pullman: Paul J. Lebens-Englund, Susan Cleveley; Coeur d’Alene: Pat Bell, Jamie Ziegler, Dave Parkinson; Wenatchee/Chelan: Doug Cockbill, Andrew Tudor, Jean Haskell; Lewiston: Anita Rognas, Rosemary Daubert
