Clergy Retreat Brochure Available

This year’s annual clergy retreat will be Feb. 1-4 at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center in Spokane.  Leader will be the Rev. Nancy Copeland-Payton, M.D., an experienced retreat leader and spiritual director who has led retreats and conferences at  Holden Village, Ghost Ranch, NM, and St. Gertrude’s in Cottonwood, ID.  She also recently published a book, “The Losses of Our Lives, The Gifts of Sacred Renewal in Everyday Loss.”  This year’s retreat theme is “Elijah – Listening for the still, small voice.”  Visit retreat brochure for registration information.

Cathedral to Host Legislative Conference (Jan. 30)
St. John’s Cathedral will host the Eastern Washington Legislative Conference from 12:30-5 p.m. Jan. 30.  Keynote speaker will be Bishop Martin Wells of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  The afternoon will also include policy briefings on state and federal legislation and presentations on several issues.  For information contact Malcolm Haworth at the Fig Tree 509.535.1813 or Scott Cooper at Catholic Charities, 509.358.4273 or scoopoer@ccspokane.org.  

Registration is $15 in advance or $20 at the door.  Scholarships are available.

Celtic Epiphany Service  (Jan. 7)
St. David’s, Spokane, will offer a Celtic Epiphany service at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7.  Theme will be “Manifesting Divinity.”  The service will include sung carols, Celtic prayers and music.  For information call 509.466.3100 or visit www.stdavidspokane.org. St. David’s is at 7314 N. Wall.

Reminder for Priests
Priests of the diocese are asked to complete their 2009 continuing education reports for the Commission on Ministry before Feb. 1.   Click Report Form to access the document. ER&D News from Linda Hale
Episcopal Relief & Development Sunday is coming soon.  On Feb.  21, and throughout Lent, all are invited to pray for those living in need and to consider a special offering for the ER&D mission – Healing a Hurting World.  Lenten materials, including a book of Meditations by Sister Claire Joy of the Community of the Holy Spirit, a bulletin insert, the Hope Chest, a prayer card and bookmark are available free from www.er-d.org/Lent/ or by calling 1.800.903.5444. The devotional is also available for download in Spanish from the same website.
