Attention Young Adults!
Each year a dozen or so Episcopal young adults spend a year in service and as mission partners around the globe in the Young Adult Service Corps (YASC).  For many, it helps to clarify a call to ministry, both lay and ordained. The first part of applying to the program is open to all between the ages of 21-30.  The process begins with a four-day discernment retreat held at an Episcopal conference center in Florida.  All costs for travel, accommodation and meals are covered (i.e. it’s free!)  The weekend is about discerning whether YASC is right for you and you are right for YASC. The dates for the 2010 discernment weekend are Thursday, Feb. 4 – Sunday, Feb. 7. Jan.  4 is the deadline for applicationsFor information visit http://www.episcopalchurch.org/30703_33023_ENG_HTM.htm?menupage=33022

Reflection from Bishop Waggoner
I am still thinking about the meeting of Diocesan Council last Friday evening and Saturday.  We met in the retreat mode to provide orientation for new and returning members, and I was again impressed by the diversity of gifts and commitment of Council members, for whom I am thankful.

The Anti-Racism Task Force met following Council, and it was more than just timely, since much of the conversation during both meetings was about active leadership and moving forward.  Through the weekend, we were reminded repeatedly that our mission is to translate faith into action.  I leave that thought with you as both our call and our challenge.
