Youth Ministry

Youth Ministries in the Diocese of Spokane is a program for all youth in grades 6-12.  There are five youth events held throughout the year in which youth from all areas in the diocese come together for community, prayer, spiritual growth, service and fun.  The diocesan youth events provide opportunities for youth to gather with friends they have made attending Camp Cross and other Diocesan youth events.  During these events the youth are given opportunities to participate in worship services by writing prayers, presenting homilies and providing music.  Every event incorporates games, theological reflection and time to be with friends as well as make new ones.

This years schedule is as follows:

Teens Encounter Christ (TEC), January 13-15, 2012, St. John’s Cathedral, Spokane

Winter Weekend, March 2-4, 2012, St. Luke’s, Wenatchee

Spring Service Retreat, April 27-29, 2012

New Beginnings, November 2012, St. Jame’s, Pullman

Nightlight, December 30 – January 1, 2013

In addition to the yearly diocesan events, youth in grades 9-12 are also encouraged to participate in the Provincial Youth Event (PYE) and the Episcopal Youth Event (EYE).  Each of these take place once every three years with the next PYE occurring in 2013 and the next EYE in 2014.  These are both great opportunities for youth from the diocese to meet other Episcopal youth from our own Province VIII and from the greater national Episcopal Church.

The heart of Youth Ministries is the community of friends that grows from participating in these Christ-centered events.  We hope you will join us and become a part of this loving community.

Be sure to check back here for updates on future youth events and opportunities.
