The Earth currently is, and should always be, in the spotlight. It is our home, and the home to billions of other people, all who are affected by what we do in our daily lives. It is up to each of us to do our very best every day to keep the Earth as healthy as possible for everyone, in spite of those who would consciously or unconsciously do it harm. It is up to each of us to set the example, to be compassionate caretakers in order to protect and cherish the Earth. Every seeming smallest act of caring is what matters, beginning with educating ourselves towards choosing a daily path which causes the least impact upon the Earth and all of God’s creatures.
The proliferation of toxic chemicals in everything we touch, eat, put on our bodies, clean our homes, schools, offices, and churches, or use in our lawns and gardens is totally inexcusable, given the fact that so few of these chemicals have ever been objectively tested before being put on the market. There are non toxic responses and products which are just as effective, or more, and do not pollute the Earth or us. Please read the recent report from the President’s Cancer Panel which speaks to this subject. Go to http://www.ewg.org/reports/bodyburden2/execsumm.php to read about our polluting impact on unborn babies still in the womb. This is so unacceptable and quite reversible.
Realizing that not everyone has time to research the myriad of hard to find and many times oblique responses to questions about what is healthy and what is not, the purpose of this environmental page is to provide ongoing information and links towards changes we can make in our daily lives which will indeed decrease our polluting effect on the world and ourselves. Please feel free to email me with questions. Let me know about positive changes you are making in your church and/or communities, which I will post to this page. Please know that I am available to come and speak with congregations or other groups.
Blessings on the Earth and us,
