Social Justice and Outreach Ministries Commission

The Social Justice and Outreach Ministries Commission (SJOM) was established by Diocesan Council of the Episcopal Diocese of Spokane in 2006.  The purpose of the Commission is to facilitate and coordinate programs in the diocese that touch on one or more elements of social justice and outreach/service ministry.   There are approximately twenty-two members on the Commission, with staggered terms, with at least one member from each deanery.

One of Diocesan Council’s four council committees is the Social Justice and Outreach Committee, which works to support and assist the Commission in its work.

SJOM objectives include:

  • Increase knowledge of ongoing effective outreach programs and share the knowledge across the Diocese.
  • Increase communication across all congregations to enhance the ministry in the diocese.
  • Establish new SJOM ventures as needed.
  • Cross-fertilize ideas and successes.

Andrew Brewer is the chair of SJOM. To contact him, e-mail andrewbrew@earthlink.net or call 509-879-3086.
