Competencies
- Demonstrates familiarity with the Eucharistic liturgy including words, mechanics of the service, variety of rites and prayer options
- Demonstrates respect for the reserved sacrament including care of the vessels for transport and use
- Demonstrates the ability to administer the paten, the chalice and the approved method(s) of intinction.
- Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to people with varying needs, i.e., children, people with special physical and mental needs, people from other local Eucharistic customs and those dealing with issues of death and dying
- Demonstrates social skills for meeting and dealing with people
- Demonstrates pastoral skills including active listening, respect for confidentiality and reporting pastoral needs
- Demonstrates the ability to lead others in extemporaneous prayer
- Demonstrates the ability to paraphrase sermons
- Successfully completes the diocesan child sexual abuse prevention training program, Safeguarding God’s Children
