Has charge of diocesan mission, education, finance and social work of the Diocese. Significant responsibilities include approving the budget, creating and overseeing Committees and Commissions of the Diocese and determining the mission strategy.
In order to accomplish this work and include as many voices in the Budget process as possible, Council has organized itself into 4 committees with different oversight areas: Administration and Finance, Formation for Ministry, Mission Strategy, and Social Justice and Outreach.
Members of Council include 12 members elected by Convention to 3 year terms and 4 members appointed by the Bishop. Half of the membership are clergy and the other half is lay.
Council regularly considers substantial business relating to the life and ministry of the Diocese and members of the diocese and congregations are welcome to submit resolutions to be considered by Council.
Meetings occur quarterly and are open to the public.
